The Rafters Pod Ep. 79: Celtics Show Out On Road Trip

Episode 79 is here!

The Boston Celtics needed to show out on their three game road trip in Florida and Dallas. They entered this series of games with an unremarkable record of 2-5 and things looked bleak matching up with top seeded Miami and Luka’s squad. The best we could hope for was a definitive win over Orlando which came in the form of a 92-79. Another tough shooting night from Tatum but the team needed a momentum boost. Then comes the game against the Miami Heat. After much protesting from Justin and Liam, Ime Udoka finally utilized a backup lineup with serious minutes. The results speak for themselves as the Celtics beat down Miami 95-78 thanks to strong performances from young guys. Things are looking up in Bean-town if the team can remain consistent in games. Next road game took the green and white to Dallas, Texas.

Luka and company constantly built and lost leads on the Celtics going up by as much as 16 and only to end up tied as time expired in regulation. The story doesn’t end in overtime though. Luka Doncic walked down court and pulled a fade-away three to give the Mavericks the win. A tough but not demoralizing loss for Boston.

There is hope for this team to right the ship this season and make a strong playoff push. This road trip was crucial for the Celtics to show up and show out against top teams in the league and beat up on the lesser ones. In the Eastern Conference there is a cluster of teams sitting within games of each other between the 5th and the 13th seed, the season is still early and standings are still taking shape.

Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum appear to be getting frustrated with each other in the media as well. Could this spell disaster for the team before they can even take off?
