The Rafters Pod Ep. 114: Celtics Crushed By Both LA Teams

The season took a quick downslide when the Celtics were crushed by both the LA Clippers and Lakers. To this point in the season, Boston had played up to their competition and established themselves as a league powerhouse. No team can be perfect every night though.

Despite being without Porzingis, the Celtics shouldn’t be crushed by 19 to LA. It was a game where everything went right for the Clips and everything went wrong for Boston. Brown and Tatum faltered in their three point numbers, slack couldn’t be picked up by the likes of White and Holiday, and Los Angeles caught fire. It was the perfect storm leading to a 91-60 third quarter lead before the Celtics bench closed the gap a bit.

Two games later, The Los Angeles Lakers come to town. Even better news? Lebron James and Anthony Davis miss the game with respective injuries. So the Celtics blow the doors off them right? Wrong. The Celtics are crushed by a star-less LA Lakers team. The game flow favored the Lakers from the tip. Fouls went their way early and often. Frustration grew as D’Angelo Russell went to the line more than any Celtics player. Austin Reeves took over the game late to halt a potential Boston comeback from 14 down at halftime.

Liam predicts on air, a big time victory Sunday against Memphis. Marcus Smart’s return game to Boston no less. The whole team will be up for this one. After a devastating loss to LA, The Celtics are going to blow the doors off this depleted Grizzlies team. Liam goes in depth on why this is the perfect game to fire all the cannons and build morale before resting guys for easier match-ups. Best Bets of the week include a Celtics -20 spread against the Grizzlies!
