The Double Edged Sword of Enes Kanter’s Trolling
This offseason the Boston Celtics went out and signed free agent center Enes Kanter to a two-year, $10 million contract with a player option for the 2020-21 season. Kanter will help fill out the front court for Boston, who happened to lose both Aron Baynes and Al Horford this summer. And despite not even playing a game for the C’s it appears Kanter has already become a fan-favorite in Beantown, and that is mostly due to his trolling of Boston’s biggest enemy Kyrie Irving.
I loved Kanter’s dig at the departed point guard just like most Celtic fans, but when it comes to Kanter, he is a double edged sword. What I mean by that is that Kanter dishes out a lot, but also takes the heat at points.
In 2018, Kanter took a jab at Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker after an on court altercation, just to get blasted by the former Kentucky Wildcat almost a year later. There is also the instance where Kanter said rookie phenom Zion Williamson is “overhyped”, and is just a, “Julius Randle with hops.” That statement did not go over well with Randle who responded to Kanter by tweeting at him:
Yo @EnesKanter last time you guarded me I had 45 relax bro lol

Kanter’s personality will fit well in Boston, but fans need to be ready in case Kanter gets a taste of his own medicine. Regardless the center will definitely be a source of entertainment for a team that lacked likability in 2018-19.
