The Daily (1/7/21)
Well I did what I said I was going to yesterday. We had a big bounce back day yesterday, and we are going to have two solid days in a row today. Before we start make sure you don’t forget to follow us on twitter (@thechasers617) to get more content. Also don’t forget to listen to our podcast on sound cloud and Spotify. Now that the plug is out of the way, we got an interesting slate of games today on the hardwood for the NBA and college basketball. With that being said here are my daily picks.
CBB:
Oregon vs Colorado
The Oregon Ducks are ranked number seventeen in the country and are on the road tonight against the Colorado Buffaloes. Oregon has looked great so far this year and is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Pac 12. The Ducks are led by seniors Chris Duarte and Eugene Omoruyi and those two have looked solid so far this season. Now we look at Colorado who has looked a lot better than I had expected them to be this season. Led by senior guard McKinley Wright IV, the Buffaloes aren’t a team to mess with.
Colorado has played shaky in the Pac 12 so far, but they still are playing above where I thought they would be. Beating a team like USC already has them in my eyes as a top six team in the conference. So now the big thing here to do is to look at the spread for this game. Colorado is a 3 point favorite at home and I have been asking myself why the entire time I have looked at this. Oregon is a solid team and only has one loss, how is this Colorado team a favorite over them. With that being said my pick is an easy choice.
Pick: Oregon ML (1u/1.32u)
Iowa vs Maryland
The number five Iowa Hawkeyes are on the road at Maryland tonight and they are a 5.5 point favorite. Luka Garza and company are ready to blow the doors off of Maryland tonight. The Terrapins have had some terrible luck in Big Ten play so far. 1-4 is Maryland’s record so far in the Big Ten and have just not been able to get over the hump yet. I think Iowa personally won’t go far in the NCAA tournament, but in Big Ten play I think they are solid. Iowa is 12-5 against the spread in their last seventeen games. This is an easy play for me.
Play: Iowa -5.5 (1.1u/1u)
Other CBB Plays:
Hofstra -4.5 (1.12u/1u)
Merrimack -3.5 (1.12u/1u)
SMU -5.5 (1.1u/1u)
Indiana +8.5 (1.09u/1u)
USC ML (1u/1.55u)
Arizona State ML (2u/2.08u)
NBA:
Philadelphia vs Brooklyn
The Philadelphia 76ers are 7-1 and are on the road against Brooklyn who is currently 4-4 and will be without Kevin Durant tonight. Philadelphia has looked good so far to start off the season with Doc Rivers as their head coach. Ben Simmons and Embiid are healthy and this is how the league thought Philadelphia would be with a good head coach. Looking at the schedule Philadelphia has played so far it is to no surprise why they are 7-1 through their first eight games.
Their dominant young duo is doing their part and they have good pieces surrounding them as well. Now for Brooklyn without Kevin Durant looked good against Utah on Tuesday. Can they keep up with Philadelphia tonight? This game will go one of two ways, the first way is that Philadelphia is going to dominate from start to finish. The second way is that Brooklyn will keep it close long enough before pulling away and winning the game outright.
Play: Philadelphia ML (2.22u/2u)
Other NBA Plays:
Cavaliers +5 (1.1u/1u)
First Basket Lillard (1u/5u)
