The Daily (1/11/21)

Welcome back to the daily, where I give you my daily gambling picks for the day. We have a great slate today as we are looking to bounce back after a tough weekend. We have the National Title game in college football tonight, as well as some games on the hardwood as well. With that being said here are my daily picks.

NCAAF: 

Ohio State vs Alabama 

The National Title Game has the number 11th (4th actually) team in the country Ohio State going up against the number one team in the country in Alabama. Both teams have played phenomenal during this weird 2020 season, and both are looking to add to their National Title list as well. There is a great quarterback matchup tonight as we have Justin Fields from Ohio State going up against Mac Jones from Alabama.

Both of these offenses are going to be firing on all cylinders tonight, and it will come down to what defense steps up and makes the plays. The line for tonight’s game is a little ridiculous tonight if you ask me. We have Alabama as 8.5 point favorites over Ohio State. Which is weird to me because I think that’s a little disrespectful to the Buckeyes. If this line was at anywhere between 3-5 points, I wouldn’t know what way to lean. Two stats that are one to watch out for tonight are as followed. The first stat is that Ohio State is 19-7 against the spread in their last 26 games as an underdog. Stat number two is that Alabama has been in four title games since the expansion to the college football playoff and they are 0-4 against the spread in those games. That being said the pick is in and my play today goes as followed.

NBA: 

Toronto Raptors vs Portland Trailblazers 

Tonight we have the Raptors on the road taking on the Blazers. The Raptors lost last night at Golden State and now have to travel straight to Portland. This game just screams like a trap game to me personally. With Portland as a 5 point favorite tonight, I am just not sold on Toronto to cover that number. Toronto has been one of the most inconsistent teams this season, and are playing well below what we have seen from them over the last couple of seasons.

On Portland’s end they are starting to figure things out as they have their backcourt getting back into the swing of things as of late. McCollum had a huge game Saturday night and will look to have that carry over tonight. This line wants you to take Toronto and the points especially with their recent success against Portland. The Raptors are 8-2 in their last ten games against Portland. Vegas is throwing the five points at you to take for Toronto, but I am not falling for it.
