The Clover Report: Week Fifteen

I know it’s hard to remember with everything going on with the Patriots right now but the Celtics are in fact still playing games. They had 4 games this week and really wasn’t that pretty. First off, they faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers in which Kyrie Irving sat out due to injury. Because of that, the Celtics struggled mightily to score as the 76ers topped Boston 89—80. Joel Embiid dominated the game as he finished with 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 6 assists. No one on the Celtics scored more than 14.

Next up, the Celtics hosted one of the worst teams in the league in the Orlando Magic. With Kyrie back in the lineup, it would seem like the C’s would get back on track. Kyrie had himself a game as he finished with 40 points, but that wasn’t the case as the Magic defeated the Celtics 103—95. The difference in the game was the 3rd quarter as the Magic outscored the Celtics 32—12 on the way to their win. Boston doesn’t do think often but this was a case of them overlooking their opponent. It was a bad to do it as they hit a season high 3 game losing streak.

After going 0-3 on the home stand, the Celtics traveled out to LA to start their West Coast trip. It started up with a back to back in the Staples Center, starting with the Lakers. No matter how good or bad these teams are, it’s still the best rivalry in basketball. This game was a back and forth affair all the way, but it was the Lakers who won 108—107. Marcus Smart (22 points) missed the game winning shot as time expired. Rookie Kyle Kuzma led the way for the Lakers as he scored 28 points off of the bench. Kyrie led the way again for Boston as he scored 33 points.

Finally to end this crappy week, the Celtics faced the Clippers. The week ended on a good note as the Celtics ended their 4 game losing to beat LA 113—102. It was a much more balanced attack from Boston as they had 5 players in double figures. They also shot 21-22 from the line. So ending this report on a positive note, both Kyrie Irving and Al Horford were named to the All-Star team this. Kyrie will be a starter as well. Finally look who started warming up before the Clippers game last night.
