The 2019 Clover Report: Week 7
After coming off one of the most disappointing losses in the Brad Stevens’ era, the Boston Celtics stood at a 9-9 record. Without a doubt this has been a major disappointment considering the team has had no major injuries. But the season stops for no one as the Celtics went out on the road to Atlanta to start a 3 game road trip. When down in Atlanta, the Celtics jumped on the lowly Hawks by scoring 45 in the 1st quarter. They went on to crush the Hawks 114–96 as the team had 6 players in double figures.
Next up on the road trip was a trip to Dallas to take on the Mavericks. Gordon Hayward sat out as a precaution as Marcus Morris would get the start. The Celtics played well in the 1st half and Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 38 points. But the Mavs pulled away in the 4th and one 113–104. Northeastern alum JJ Barea led the way for the Mavs as he scored 20 points and dished out 8 assists. 11–10.
To finish out the week and the road trip, the Celtics took on Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. Hayward was back but Brown was out due to a back injury. In what was one of their bettedr games of the year, the Celtics won on the road 124–107. Irving, Tatum, Morris, and Horford combined for 85 points in what was one of the best offense games of the year. So this week provided more good then bad as the Celtics may have found something with Marcus Smart starting, but we’re far away from saying their back. The schedule is easy coming up and Boston has to take advantage of that. If they can rip off 6 in a row, then we really have something going.
