The 2019 Celtics Clover Report: Week 28
After sweeping the Indiana Pacers and having a week off, the Boston Celtics were back at it. They began their series on the road against the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. My pick before the series was Celtics in 7 as I thought the Celtics had an overall better team.
The Celtics made me look like a genius after Game 1. From the opening tip, the Celtics dominated the whole way and blew out the Bucks 112-90. This was a masterclass performance from Boston and the best game they’ve played all season. While Kyrie Irving led the team in scoring with 26, Al Horford was the star of the game. Not only did Horford drop 20 points with 11 rebounds, but he played lockdown defense on Giannis Antetokounmpo. The likely MVP had his worst game of the year and Al Horford was the main reason why.
Game 2 was a much different story unfortunately for the Celtics. It was a competitive 1st half but a disastrous 3rd quarter. The Bucks outscored Boston 39-18 and won 123-102 to tie the series at 1. The Celtics offense was stagnant coming into the 2nd half, which led to them settling for long threes. That allowed Giannis to run out on the fast break and the game was over at that point.
Despite the blowout, the Celtics are in control of the series as they own home-court. But they can’t come out flat over these next two games. The Bucks are desperate and they’re the number one seed for a reason. Friday is going to be good.
