Takeaways from the Buffalo Bills 2021 Schedule
With the Buffalo Bills 2021 regular season schedule being released last week, there are a lot of intriguing games this season. With the team being just one win away from going to the Super Bowl last year, fans were eager to see who was on the schedule and when the games would take place. In this article, I’m going to give you my biggest takeaways from Buffalo’s schedule.
AFC Championship Game Rematch
I’m sure you’ve seen the picture above so many times but luckily for Stefon Diggs, he’ll get to see the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5 on Sunday Night Football. This is the biggest takeaway for me and I’m sure it is for a lot of Bills fans. In what could be the game of the year, Buffalo will head back to where their season ended last year. The rematch of the AFC championship game is probably at the top of the list for the fans and the team. It’s just another installment of Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes and I know for a fact it won’t be the last one.
Thanksgiving in New Orleans
The last time the Bills played on Thanksgiving, they went into Dallas and beat the Cowboys 26-15. Buffalo will be playing on Thanksgiving once again in Week 12 but this time the game will be in New Orleans. Bills Mafia loves to invade popular cities and I can’t imagine what the French Quarter, Bourbon Street and the other popular areas in New Orleans will look like with red, white and blue invading their streets. Not only is it another nationally televised game, but it will be Buffalo’s first look at the Saints without Drew Brees. It’s always great playing on national television but when it’s on Thanksgiving, then it makes it even better and I’m definitely looking forward to this one.
A Battle Against an Old Foe
Does anything look weird in the picture above? We’re used to Tom Brady winning a Super Bowl but it’s normally with the New England Patriots. However, last year it was with a different team. That team was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Bills will see Brady once again in Week 14. After two decades of being owned by Brady, Buffalo will look to defeat their kryptonite in what could be a great game. The Bills would’ve faced Brady in the Super Bowl last year if it wasn’t for the Chiefs but this season, they will face off down in Tampa so it will be interesting to see what happens in that game.
Rematch of the AFC Wild Card Game
I’m not sure if Bills fans are looking forward to this one but I am. Week 11 has Carson Wentz and the Indianapolis Colts coming to town. Buffalo eliminated the Colts in the wild card game last season and I’m sure Indy will be looking for revenge in this game. In my opinion, even though Buffalo won the game, I believe the Colts were the better team in that game. They dominated Buffalo in time of possession and made some mistakes that helped Buffalo. I’m not taking credit away from the Bills because they worked hard for the win, but it makes me think what would’ve happened if the Colts didn’t make those costly mistakes.
Final Thoughts
I’m sure there are other games that are eye popping for other fans but as for me, these are all of the games I’m looking forward to. I know I didn’t add any games against divisional rivals but these games caught me eye the most and I’m definitely looking forward to them.
