Takeaways From Celtics Media Day Yesterday

The Boston Celtics are about three weeks away from their regular season starting. They open up October 23rd in Philadelphia to take on the 76ers. Before that however, the Celtics had their media day yesterday. It’s the time of year when pictures are taken, laughs are shared, and team chemistry continues to build. With media day going down yesterday, here are a few key takeaways from the event.

The Celtics Are ALL IN On A Fresh Start

We all know what we were thinking at this point last season. Fans were expecting a trip to the Finals and contending with the Warriors. Obviously, that didn’t happen. Kyrie Irving is gone (THANK GOD!). Al Horford is gone, as well as Terry Rozier and Marcus Morris. But, the Celtics do have some reinforcements in the fold to take their place such as Kemba Walker and Enes Kanter. The longer tenured Celtics players such as Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward, and others talked yesterday about having a fresh start to the 2019-2020 season. This team needs a fresh start. They seem to be in good spirits and everyone seems ready to tackle this new season head on.

The Rookies Will Be A Lot Of Fun To Watch

So we know that the Celtics had a lot of draft picks that they used in the past draft. They also made a very tall acquisition in signing Tacko Fall as an undrafted free agent. The rookies continued to gel and have fun yesterday at their first NBA media day.

It’s great to see the rookies are all getting along before the season starts. Could this change when minutes get involved? Sure. But let’s keep things in a positive light. These Celtics rookies are buying into the system of comradery and team chemistry helping lead them to wins. Hopefully, we’ll get to see a Tacko Fall dunk or two as well!

Kemba Walker Is Really Embracing Boston

Fans knew that Kemba Walker had publicly been saying how excited he was to sign with the Celtics. Now, we are consistently seeing Kemba back up his words with actions…and more words!

It’s very clear Kemba wants to be the leader of this team. A lot of people are feeling the genuine nature of his comments, unlike a certain point guard of the past. The team will go as far as Kemba Walker takes them with his leadership. If the veterans see that leadership has changed with a new point guard in town, it’s going to be a fun season!

In Conclusion

It’s only media day, but it’s still important. With the Red Sox just finishing up, the Patriots 4-0, and the Bruins beginning their defense of the Eastern Conference; the Celtics get lost in the fold a bit. Make no mistake about it, I’m EXCITED to watch this team play! I wish it was October 23rd tomorrow. I guarantee you this…this Celtics team will be a lot of fun to follow all season long.
