Start Em’ Sit Em’ Week 11
Well week 10 proved to be one of the more wacky weeks in fantasy football. You had guys like Antonio Brown, Leonard Fournette, and Jordan Howard dropping duds, while Robert Woods, and Adam Thielen topped the charts for receivers, and a guy that you have probably never heard of by the name of Austin Ekeler end up top 3 among RBs. Well i think week 11 should regress towards the mean. Here are the players I think you should start and sit for week 11.
Start Em’ QBs
Alex Smith has taken a big step forward this year and has been a top 5 QB all season. He has one of the fastest WRs in the league in Tyreek Hill, an all star TE in Travis Kelce, and one of the best rookie RBs in Kareem Hunt. All of these players have been very effective, and that has put Kansas City in the spotlight as one of the most high-powered offenses in the league. Couple that with the fact that the Giants are allowing the most points to opposing QBs this year and Smith is looking like a juicy play this weekend. If Eli and the Giants can keep pace, Smith could explode and be the top scoring QB this weekend. Just hope it doesn’t become one sided and the Chiefs resort to running the ball all second half.
Sit Em’ QBs
Marcus Mariota hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations this season. Only eclipsing 300 yards passing in one game and never being a part of more than 2 TDs in any game this season. The Titans are definitely a run first offense utilizing their prolific duo of RBs in Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry. Mariota’s legs are usually something you can rely on, but last week agains the Bengals was the first time he eclipsed 50 yards rushing. This week he gets a tough matchup agains the Steelers who are allowing the 3rd fewest points to opposing QBS. Hopefully Mariota can take advantage of Joe Haden missing this one, but I don’t see an overly productive day for the former Duck.
Start Em’ RBs
Melvin Gordon has somewhat quietly been a top 5 running back all season. With the exception of last week, week 7, and week 4 Gordon has been a double digit fantasy contributor in standard scoring and has 19 or more fantasy points in 3 contests. Last week was tough for Gordon as he was not able to find any room to run, and his receiving counterpart, the name I mentioned before, Austin Ekeler was in the spotlight taking two catches in for 6. Like I said in the beginning, I think we see a regression towards the norm this week and Gordon bounces back with a plus matchup against Buffalo who will be benching Tyrod Taylor and just let Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara run wild all over them. Every runner for NO last week got a touchdown, Ingram, Kamara, Brees, even their third string RB Trey Edmunds found pay dirt in this matchup so you are starting Gordon this week with confidence.
Sit Em’ RBs
Alfred Morris now finds himself as the top dog in Dallas’ backfield but that shouldn’t excite you too much this week. This is most certainly a RBBC (running back by committee) with a combination of Morris as the first down runner, and Rod Smith as the receiving third down back. Morris couldn’t get much going on the ground last week, and will have an even tougher matchup this week against the Eagles who are allowing the fourth fewest points to opposing RBs. I don’t really see Dallas leading much in this game so expect to see more Rod Smith. If you do have to play Morris, you are banking on him finding the end zone, but without that I don’t see Morris having a particularly productive outing Sunday night in prime time.
Start Em’ WRs
Sterling Shepard is securely the top target in the Giants offense at this point. After coming back from the ankle injury Shepard has been an absolute target monster establishing himself as Eli’s go to guy. This trend will continue as Eli is really out of weapons, he has Engram and Shepard as his main guys and the remaining receiving core is pretty inexperienced. The Giants have also been pretty bad this season and are usually playing from behind meaning that Eli will be throwing it a lot. Tie this all together with the fact that the Giants are facing the Chiefs who have allowed the most points to opposing WRs this week and you can expect some OBJ numbers for S squared this Sunday in the Meadowlands.
Sit Em’ WRs
Jordy Nelson, who you would never expect to be on the sit side of these articles, has not been the same without his guy Aaron Rodgers under Center. After Nelson went 6-9-60 yards we all thought he would still be the no. 1 guy in Green Bay. However, as we have gathered a larger sample size that just hasn’t been the case. In the last three games Nelson has accumulated 8 catches for a whopping 68 yards. It seems like Hundley has a better rapport with Devante Adams, and to make matters worse the Packers are facing off against Baltimore this Sunday who allow the 2nd least points to opposing wide receivers. I would sell high for brand name only before the trade deadline approaches, because I wouldn’t trust him in a lineup.
Start Em’ TEs
Travis Kelce, like I mentioned before is an all star TE and is actually the highest scoring TD in standard scoring so far this season. He has great rapport with Alex Smith, and if Smith is going to have a good game, you can be sure that Kelce will have a nice piece of the pie. The Giants are the worst in the league against opposing TDs so Kelce is locked in agains as a top TE option this week.
Sit Em’ TEs
Delanie Walker has not produced the way owners were expecting this season. Usually a top TE, Walker has yet to find the end zone through the air this season. He did manage to get one rushing TD in week 2 against the Jaguars. This has mainly been a result of Mariota performing below expectation this season. Again, if Mariota isn’t going to have a good day, there is no way that Walker does. The Steelers are allowing the third fewest points to opposing TEs, I don’t see this game being the one where Walker finds his first TD through the air.
