Start ’em Sit ’em: Week 1

Here we go folks it’s finally week 1 of the NFL!  You know what that means? FANTASY IS BACK BABY!  Let’s get this kicked off right away with the start ’em sit ’em for week 1.

Start ’em

Quarterback

Matthew Stafford vs. NYJ– Stafford is a better fantasy QB than most people give him credit for.  In week 1 he gets the Jets who allowed the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing QBs last year.  Stafford is locked in on my QB1 radar this week.

Running Back

Dalvin Cook vs. SF– San Fran was pretty bad against the run last year, finishing 27th in the league against opposing fantasy running backs.  Coming off of an ACL injury shouldn’t hinder Cook too much in his first contest against them.  I’ve got Cook as a borderline RB1 this week.

Wide Receiver

Chris Hogan vs. Hou– Last year the Texans were ranked 27th against opposing fantasy receivers and Hogan is going to be Brady’s go to guy week 1 in Gillette.  Hogan is a borderline WR1 in ppr leagues this week.

Tight End

Delanie Walker @ Mia– Miami was literally dead last in defending opposing fantasy TEs last year and I don’t think they got any better over the offseason.  Give me some Delanie Walker in week 1!

Sit ’em

Quarterback

Philip Rivers vs. KC– Last year in his 2 games against Kansas City, Rivers mustered up a measly 10.6 fantasy points.  You read that right… In 2 games ( that’s 8 quarters of football) the Chargers QB threw 464 yards, 1 TD and 6 INT against the Chiefs.  He’s on my bench this week.  And no I don’t care that Gates is back, Gates is gonna have a bad week too don’t start him either.

Running Back

Christian McCaffery vs. Dal–  I think McCaffery is going to have a good year as the featured back in Carolina, just maybe not week 1.  The Cowboys defense was surprisingly good against the run last year and in their last 6 games they allowed zero rushing TDs and only one 100 yard rusher.  He’s a really tough start for me this week.

Wide Receiver

Stefon Diggs vs. SF– As amazing as the Minnesota Miracle was last year in the playoffs,  I don’t expect Diggs to roll out in week 1 doing anything like that.  With 49ers newly added corner Richard Sherman covering him, Diggs is going to have a rough game.  Last time these two matched up Diggs was held in check pretty much the whole game.

Tight End

Evan Engram vs Jax– Engram is a really talented player, but he’s on my bench in week 1.  Engram is already banged up against a Jacksonville defense who took the league by storm last year smothering opposing offenses. Yeah, no thanks.
