So You’re Saying There’s A Chance? The Boston Red Sox are Still In The Hunt

After a wild week of baseball, the Red Sox went 5-2 against the two teams ahead of them in the division. This past week showed that the Red Sox are more than capable of being a playoff contender. However, there’s still a lot of baseball to be played. As of right now, the Sox are 1 game out of the Wild Card game and 9 games back of the Yankees who hold the top spot in the East.

The next week of baseball is more crucial than this past week. The Red Sox host the Rays for 3 games, then head to the Bronx for another 3 game series. The Sox teased us with what they can do. I want to see them do the same thing this week. Go out and put a ton of runs on the board in the first few innings. Stomp on the knecks of the Rays and Yankees.  Both the Rays and the Yankees are hurting, which makes it the perfect time for Boston to play some catch-up. If the Red Sox walk away with two series wins, you have to love their chances going forward.

As the trade deadline draws closer, the Red Sox are in the market for Starting and Closing pitchers. I trust Dombrowski will make a move that will greatly benefit the team. The Red Sox are a piece or two in the rotation/bullpen from being the deepest team in baseball. It all depends on how much the team wants to give up to get a reliable starter/closer.

Looking further into the schedule, it does not look easy for Boston. Series between teams that are fighting to get into the playoffs (Angels, Giants, Twins, Tampa, and Indians), will all show us where this team stands. I know that the Red Sox have the best offense in baseball and I am comfortable in saying that they have one of the best starting rotations. It all comes down to how much this team wants to win. There’s a chance that the Red Sox make the playoffs this year, and it’s a damn good one.
