Saints asked Drew Brees if he was interested in a comeback
The New Orleans Saints are going to start former Norte Dame quarterback Ian Book on Monday night. Book is getting the start because both Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian are on the reserve/COVID list.
Despite Book earning his first NFL start, the team checked in on retired icon Drew Brees. The former Super Bowl winning quarterback has been working with NBC covering Sunday Night Football this season, turned down the opportunity to make a comeback.
Brees declined by texting a photo to the Saints of himself playing golf.

Instead, the Saints went and signed former Jaguars first-round pick Blake Bortles to backup Book.
The Saints are on the bubble of potentially making the playoffs and are resting their chances on Book’s shoulder.
“It’s an unbelievable opportunity,” Book said. “I don’t know what it’s going to feel like. I’ve played in big games, but I think this is the biggest, obviously. We’re professionals now and this is Monday Night Football.”
