The Buffalo Sabres will look to win three games in a row as they will host the New York Rangers tonight. In this article, I will give a quick recap of Tuesday night and a preview for tonight’s game.

Eichel gets his first goal

After going six games without scoring a goal, Sabres captain Jack Eichel finally found the back of the net. In the second period, Buffalo had a chance to take the lead on the power play. Eichel was on the receiving end of a great pass from Victor Olofsson and one timed the puck into the net, giving Buffalo the lead. It turned out to be the game winning goal and Jack’s reaction after scoring says it all.

The workhorse from Whitehorse strikes again

Dylan Cozens, aka “the workhorse from Whitehorse”, continues to contribute at the NHL level. Buffalo’s first round pick from the 2019 draft got on the scoresheet once again on Tuesday night. Trailing 1-0 in the first period, the Sabres had a chance to tie the game on the power play. Eric Staal found Cozens in between the face off dots and Cozens let go a great one timer into the net, tying the game.

Jokiharju out again

Transitioning to tonight’s game, Buffalo will be missing Henri Jokiharju for a second straight game. According to head coach Ralph Krueger, they are going to give Jokiharju another game to recover from a minor injury. This means that Matt Irwin, who Buffalo signed during free agency, will play again tonight. On Tuesday night, Irwin played very well, so we will see if he can keep it up.

Goaltending matchup

The Rangers will be starting Igor Shesterkin in net tonight. Nothing is confirmed for Buffalo, but according to Lance Lysowski, Linus Ullmark is expected to get the start. Puck drop between the Sabres and Rangers will get underway just after 7 pm.
