Risto on the Move? + More Sabres Rumors
We all knew there was going to be changes made by the Buffalo Sabres this offseason. Let’s start off with defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen. According to Lance Lysowski and multiple of other sources, the New Jersey Devils have interest in Ristolainen.
Another Sabres note for you all: the Devils have interest in defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen, according to multiple sources.
The Devils have the assets (picks and prospects) that would make a deal work for Buffalo. Glaring need at RHD with Carrick a UFA.

Just like Jack Eichel, I do think it’s time for the Sabres to move on with Rasmus. He was the 8th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft and it clearly hasn’t worked out well with him here. He’s a physical defenseman but in my opinion, he’s inconsistent. He’ll have good games but will struggle in other games. He is one of the guys that shows some fight but I am okay with Buffalo moving on from him.
I’m hearing the same as Elliotte: the Sabres are preparing for the possibility that they’ll own two picks in the top 10. https://t.co/WQ1v5KakWw

Lance also dropped another bombshell but this time it was from Elliotte Friedman on his podcast “31 Thoughts”. Friedman said the Sabres could possibly have two top ten picks in the upcoming draft. With Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart possibly on the move, Buffalo could definitely land a first round pick depending on the team who acquires a player like Sam and Jack. General manager Kevyn Adams needs to have a good offseason and if it means trading away your franchise players for good young talent then do it.
Final Thoughts
If I’m Kevyn Adams I say go for it. Trade Ristolainen and if you can, try and get another top ten pick for the draft this year. It’s going to be tough but sometimes, change is good. This fanbase is starving for a good hockey team, do whatever it takes to change this franchise around.
