Red Sox Trade For Pearce
Last night the Red Sox traded minor-leaguer Santiago Espinal and cash to the Toronto Blue Jays for 1B/outfielder Steve Pearce. Pearce crushes against left-handed pitching and is a huge bat to add in the lineup. He’s batting .291 with 4 home runs and 16 runs batted in.
Personally, I like this trade and Pearce has already had an impact in tonight’s game. Pearce went 2 for 4 with a single and a double. Not a bad debut. Hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come and Pearce with be a plug we needed to give Moreland a break at 1B. Pearce has been known as a Yankee killer which could be a huge factor down the stretch. I think this is a great under the radar add.
Also side note, the Red Sox picked up Brandon Phillips on a minor league contract. This move kinda scares me because that means the Sox are preparing for the worst in regards to Dustin Pedroia. Pedroia has been out basically the entire year trying to recover from offseason knee surgery. To me this is not looking good and the Red Sox are trying to prepare for the worst.
