RAW Viewership Drops To Lowest In History

I’m going to be completely honest. I haven’t watched a live episode of RAW or Smackdown Live in at least a couple months. I’ve talked about how pathetically their storylines have been booked in the past, and my feelings have only gotten stronger based on the progression of feuds such as Sasha and Bayley, AJ and Nakamura, and now Bobby Lashley vs Roman Reigns. Who seriously wants to see two of the top female wrestlers get counseling over their friendship? Why have Lesnar as your world champion when he’s never there? Does the WWE really think Roman will ever be accepted, despite 3 years of being vigorously booed? How is any of that supposed to get anyone invested? It’s becoming ever apparent that the WWE constantly throw things together last minute, and even with such high-quality talent, they don’t hold up as a good exposition.

WWE is all about milestones and setting records. Every Wrestlemania the company touts how many people they pack in one building (even if it’s often exaggerated).

This week, Monday Night RAW again broke a new record in the least amount of people that have ever tuned in to watch the program with 2.470 million viewers. The lowest prior to that being on September 26th, 2016 at 2.478 million viewers. Understandably, the latter went up against the Clinton and Trump debate during the presidential election, as well as Monday Night Football. This is also an 8.8% drop-off from the episode the week before at 2.707 million.

This is sad for the go-home show to a PPV, but there’s just such little incentive right now. The only thing going for RAW right now that Ronda Rousey is “suspended” is Seth Rollins. He’s been the crown jewel of RAW in 2018, and it’s a shame they don’t treat him like the main event. That’s literally the only match I care to watch at Extreme Rules this Sunday. It’s as simple as this though if you treat it like a filler episode, so will we.
