Protesting Fans Hung This Banner Over the Green Monster During the Red Sox-Athletics Game Tonight
During the fourth inning of game two of Red Sox homestand vs. the Athletics, some dumb ass Sox fans thought it would be a good idea to decorate the Green Monster. Lo and behold a banner that reads “Racism is as American as baseball” was dropped down from the historic wall with four fans holding it in place.
How stupid do you have to be to do this? You have to know that security is coming for your ass as soon as that thing drops, which they did. And how the hell did they even get it into the ballpark? That banner is ginormous and probably not the easiest thing to sneak around. You can’t even get a tin of dip into Fenway let alone a giant ass banner.
There are a time and place for protesting. I don’t want to see it during a baseball game by any means, especially with all of the kids in attendance or watching. What are they supposed to think when they see that thing drop? Just watch the damn game and peacefully protest some other time.
The Red Sox obviously released a statement following this.
“During the 4th inning of tonight’s game, four fans unfurled a banner over the left field wall in violation of the club’s policy prohibiting signs of any kind to be hung or affixed to the ballpark. The individuals involved were escorted out of Fenway Park.”
According to masslive.com, one of the four people who were apart of this banner dropping said that they did it for the Black Lives Matter Movement.
