Previewing Bills/Dolphins

The Buffalo Bills are 1-0 after coming out victorious in their Week 1 win against the New York Jets. Now, the team will head down to Florida to take on another divisional opponent, the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are just like the Jets, a team that’s building for the future. Each divisional game is tough, but the Dolphins are a better team than New York. Just like each week, I will give some keys for the Bills to win the game.

Keys to the Game

Josh Allen

As seen below, Bills quarterback Josh Allen plays great against Miami. He’s 3-1 against the Dolphins during his young career and he will look to add on this Sunday. He did struggle at times last week but overall, I believe he played really well against New York. Even though he threw for over 300 yards for the first time in his career, he needs to work on his ball control. He fumbled two times last week and both of those were in the red zone. If he can protect the ball and plays a good game, then I can see the Bills winning this game.

Playing against a familiar foe

Buffalo will face former quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday. According to Pro Football Reference, Fitzpatrick did not have a good game last week against New England. He went 20/30, throwing for 191 yards. The Dolphins quarterback also recorded no touchdowns and threw three interceptions. If he struggled against the Patriots defense, then I’m sure he’ll have his struggles against the Bills defense. As expected, Buffalo’s defense was stellar last weekend. They only had one bad breakdown but that was it. If the defense can get to Fitzpatrick, this will be another reason why the Bills will be successful.

DeVante Parker vs. Tre’Davious White

A matchup to keep an eye on will be Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker going up against Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White. Pro Football Reference says Parker has 537 yards on 38 receptions against the Bills for his entire career, while having only three touchdowns. Last year against Buffalo, Parker had seven catches for 135 yards but no touchdowns. White is one of the best cornerbacks in the game, but he will have a tough test facing off across from the Dolphins wide receiver.

As I mentioned earlier, no divisional game is easy. I do think the Bills are the better team but Miami is always a tough opponent. We will see what happens on Sunday.
