Potential Other Destinations for Tom Brady
Tom Brady is a free agent. This is not something that we as Patriots fans aren’t used to seeing. On the record, I still think he stays with the Patriots or retires. BUT, we have to be open to the realization that he could play elsewhere next season. With that in mind, here are a few potential destinations Brady could land in if he doesn’t go back to the Patriots.
Los Angeles Chargers
Philip Rivers is a free agent as well and doesn’t appear to be returning. The Chargers need a change and what better way to do it than landing Tom Brady? Brady will be playing in sunny Los Angeles, a definite weather change from living in New England. He has some weapons with him in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. He’ll be back in his home state of California. There’s a lot of appealing factors about playing for the Chargers.
Chicago Bears
The Bears need a new quarterback. I’m sorry Bears fans, but Mitch Trubisky is just not the answer. The Bears have a phenomenal defense, probably better all around than the Patriots with guys like Khalil Mack and Eddie Jackson in the fold. They play in similar type of weather to New England. Brady would have guys like Tarik Cohen, Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, and old friend Cordarrelle Patterson around him. Keep in mind, the Bears play in a tough NFC North. Maybe this can be the team to prove that Brady can play well six times against a tough division? Just a thought.
Indianapolis Colts
To me, this is the absolute best option for Tom Brady. There’s so many good reasons to play in Indy. First off, you play in a dome eight games a season. No wind, rain, snow, hail, etc. for Brady would be a nice change of pace. The offensive line has become one of the better o-lines in football. He would have Marlon Mack in the backfield, and T.Y. Hilton to throw the ball to as a primary receiving option. He’d be playing in a tough division with the Texans and Titans in there, which could be extra added motivation. It all seems pretty good to me if I’m Tom Brady in this situation.
In Conclusion
I still stand by my original statement that Brady will stay a Patriot or retire. However, these three teams are very enticing options for Brady. He still can play at a high level of football in my opinion. The man just needs some help around him. If the Patriots aren’t willing to do that for him, then maybe it is time to move on. I really hope that’s not the case. But remember, Joe Montana wasn’t always a 49er. The next few months will be exhausting to say the least.
