Patriots Wide Receiver Option for 2021: Chris Godwin
The New England Patriots need a lot of help. The 2020-2021 season concludes Sunday afternoon and they are going to finish with an under .500 record for the first time since 2000. With that being said, the roster itself is a mess. They need upgrades basically everywhere on offense, minus the running back position and MAYBE the offensive line. One of those positions that they need to have a major overhaul on is wide receiver. Now don’t get it confused, there are a TON of wide receiving options open in free agency for 2021. One of those names? Chris Godwin of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He Can Play Like a Pro Bowl Receiver
Chris Godwin has been a Pro-Bowl receiver before. In 2019, he went to the Pro Bowl after catching 86 passes for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns. It’s tough when Godwin has to deal with being in the same offense as Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette, Mike Evans, Antonio Brown, and Rob Gronkowski. That’s just to start! A change of scenery might help Godwin. New England could be the perfect place for him to come in and win the job as the number one receiving target.

The Patriots have so much cap space, it isn’t even funny. They have the 4th highest cap space in the NFL going into the off-season. Moves need to be made with that money. Godwin would be a great first step to bringing the Patriots back into relevancy. The Patriots have zero excuse. The money is there…start using it once the off-season hits!
In Conclusion
Would I like Chris Godwin here in New England? Of course! Anybody would be better than what the Patriots have right now. Do I realistically see Godwin coming here? No. I think he somehow ends up back in Tampa Bay. The Bucs have one more shot to win a Super Bowl with tom Brady at the helm in 2021. They need all of the reinforcements possible to make that happen. But hey, 2020 was a weird year. In 2021, I’m going to say that anything could happen. So let’s get weird, Patriots fans! Bring Chris Godwin to the Patriots, ASAP!
