Patriots v.s. Bills Preview

Finally a game that gives us a little juice to look forward to. The Pats head into Buffalo at 3-0, and they will face the 3-0 Bills. It’s not too often that the Bills come out of a season this hot, and this is a typical trap game for the Patriots. Buffalo is not an easy place to play ever, and that fan base will be absolutely nuts with two undefeated teams facing off.

The Bills defense has been solid through 3 games, but they also have not faced a very legitimate offense. They haven’t allowed more than 17 points in a game, and even against struggling teams, that is a pretty good feat. Brady will need to come out hot early and assert himself as the winning-est QB in Buffalo in the last 2 decades. Julian Edelman always has big games against the Bills, and his health is in question this week. The Bills have very talented safeties in Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, so the over the top game to Josh Gordon might be tough. If Edelman can’t go, this will be a big game for Phillip Dorsett again, and we should see a good amount of snaps for a guy like Jakobi Meyers, who is not afraid to play physical and go across the middle. After a week off, the Pats will have a fresh running back in James White, and he should be expected to be all over the field. This offensive line has held up very well through injuries, and if they continue to keep Brady upright, then there should be no problems in this game.

The Bills haven’t scored much through their 3 wins, and seem to have relied on their defense mostly to win these games. There is no doubt that Josh Allen makes mistakes, but what is remarkable about his game is how fast he puts them behind him. After turning the ball over 4 times against the Jets, and went down 16-0 and still managed to come back and win. He is calm and collected, but the Patriots won’t let those mistakes go. He can be very erratic, and this Pats defensive backfield have been all over any ball that comes their way. Devin McCourty has 3 picks in 3 games, and this defense still has not allowed a TD since last years AFC Championship when they are on the field. The Bills have a little more talent than the last few teams, so they might finally put one in, but don’t bank on it too much. Their rookie running back David Singletary is banged up, and Frank Gore is no spring chicken. The type of guy that could beat the Pats in this game is Cole Beasley. They love their slot receivers on their team but also struggle to contain them. It’ll be an ugly first half for this Bills offense, but they might be able to muster something in the second half.

This looks like it should be the biggest test so far, but they won’t see a real test for a bit still. 41-13 Pats.
