Patriots rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez has done well so far

Christian Gonzalez looks like the real deal

FOXBOROUGH MA-New England Patriots rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez has played extremely well the first three weeks of the season. Just this week he won Defensive Rookie of the Month for September and has been shutting down top-notch wide receivers in the NFL so far. Just in three games, he has one sack, one interception, three assisted tackles, and 16 combined. Gonzalez, 21, has shown his talents beyond his career because he was a projected top-ten pick in this year’s NFL Draft but ended up sliding down to the Patriots. It’s good to see New England have its next up-and-coming corner because they needed someone to compliment Jonathan Jones on the opposite side of him.

Gonzalez heads home this week as the Patriots are on the road taking on Dallas and I am sure his family will be watching closely. This is definitely someone that New England should keep around for a very long while because he can be your next shutdown corner very soon. He has shown flashes already with the assignments that were given to him. A.J. Brown, Tyreek Hill, and Garrett Wilson are just some names that he has covered this season, and has not allowed many yards to those receivers. Watch for him tomorrow to be covering CeeDee Lamb of the Cowboys and holding him to little to no yards.

Can Christian win rookie of the year?

It is very possible for Gonzalez that he can win the defensive player rookie of the year. He already has proven he’s a top notch corner in the NFL with all the talent he has covered so far in just three games. As much as the Patriots needed and still need wide receiver help it was definitely a smart pick drafting Gonzalez this past year. Just keep an eye out for Gonzalez to continue his success.

I know it’s very early in his young career but some people might want to say that Gonzalez has some traits like former Patriot cornerback Ty Law. The way Law played the game and how Gonzalez handled himself so far they seem to be having similar early careers. Law was one of the greatest corners to ever play the game especially for the Patriots and Gonzalez has the chance to do the same once he is done someday. Gonzalez could be a future hall of famer in the Patriots hall and also Canton.
