Patriots Gain More Cap Space!
Bill Belichick’s off season continues to improve as the New England Patriots gain much-needed cap space flexibility on Saturday.
The Patriots settled two large salary cap grievances allowing them to gain roughly $6.55 million back in the process.

The patriots gain the cap space after settling the salary grievances they had with former Pats receiver Antonio Brown as well as with Aaron Hernandez. These two settlements open up the flood gates for Bill Belichick to make a few potential moves!
What may those moves be? Well, I have some thoughts but again, it is Bill who we are talking about. One of the most unpredictable individuals ever so anything can happen!!
POTENTIAL MOVES:
Jadeveon Clowney, DE
Could the Patriots make another splash in free agency? 🤔

After collecting these grievances, the Patriots now have close to $7.8 Million of cap room available. It is no secret that the Pats are in dying need of a defensive end,. They could easily find that answer in a young Jadeveon Clowney who is turning 27 this year and could bring a lot of talent to our defense.
Jordan Reed, TE
Reed is currently a free agent and may possibly become a key component of the Patriots offense should Kraft and Belichick decide to make a move.
Let’s think about this for a second though. Reed does have a few injuries he’s had to work thru, hence his value has decreased. With his value depreciating a bit, this opens the door for the Connecticut native to negotiate a short-term contract with New England giving him a big opportunity!
If I was in Bill’s position, I would personally not be opposed to giving Reed a 1-year contract for $1.9 Million and maybe add a few incentives in there.
Some of Reed’s best stats were in 2018 when he had 54 receptions, 558 years and 2 TD’s.
Devonta Freeman
Back in May, Devonta had suggested possibly sitting out the 2020 season should any team be unable to match his asking price. However, it is now July and COVID-19 is still having a massive impact everywhere.
With the Patriots potentially being after him, would Devonta be willing to reconsider his choice?
If I was Devonta I totally would!
I would ask for a $3.5 Million 1-year contract with incentives, knowing that he has everything available to him to potentially be back in the playoff picture.
One thing Devonta should highly consider is, that he would be working for the best NFL coach as well as a lethal formula between Josh McDaniels and a highly-motivated Cam Newton!
In Conclusion
These grievances being settled allows the Patriots to continue to shake up the NFL with any moves they make. It is exciting news!! We shall see what Bill decides to do next.
