Patriots Are Supposedly Interested in Utah State Quarterback Jordan Love
We’ve heard the two big names come out as far as quarterbacks are concerned in the 2020 NFL draft class. It’s Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, and then the rest. With the Patriots, a lot of people are saying that second year QB Jarrett Stidham is ready to take the reigns. Others are saying to trade up and take Tua. But one name that is getting overlooked is Utah State quarterback Jordan Love. Well, get ready for the rumors Pats fans. The Patriots have reportedly “done their homework” on Love.

So Who is Jordan Love?
Love was a three year starter in the Mountain West Conference for the Utah State Big Blue. When you look at the numbers, the year the stands out is his sophomore year. He had a 64% completion percentage with 32 touchdowns and six interceptions. The QB threw for over 3,000 yards in each of his sophomore and junior seasons at Utah State. He’s 6’4 and 225 pounds. Now, does having a good year in the MWC mean you’re ready for the NFL? Not necessarily. But, hidden gems have been found elsewhere.
The Tape
So there are a few things to like here with Love. He has a nice touch on the ball downfield. There are instances of good pocket awareness. The only downside for me is the opponents he’s doing all of this against. I mean, San Diego State? Fresno State? Wyoming? Those aren’t the “blue chips” of college football. But, it’s not Love’s fault. That’s just who he happened to play against in his college career. The man can control himself on the field, not everything else off of the field.
In Conclusion
Is Love a respectable draft prospect? Sure! But do I see him in a Patriots uniform? No. They’re either going with Stidham or they’ll trade up in the draft for Tua. Can you really see them go in any other direction? Don’t get me wrong, Jordan Love will be an intriguing option for some NFL teams in need of a quarterback. However, the Patriots have other needs to address first. Tua is an exception. So don’t expect to see any Jordan Love jerseys in New England anytime soon.
