Only Ten Teams Have A Chance: March Madness Talk

March Madness is right around the corner, and some teams are fighting for their tournament lives. Today I want to go over the five teams that have a chance at winning, and then Wednesday I will reveal the next five teams. That is right, I am only giving ten teams a chance at winning the NCAA tournament. You may think that any team that gets into the tournament has a chance, but I think the top teams will pull away this year. This list is in no specific order.

  1. Arizona

Arizona is almost almost back to normal after their latest scandal involving the head coach. Why will Arizona win the tournament? Well this guy may have something to do with it..

Deandre Ayton can dominate any team on the glass, and is capable of putting up big numbers. Junior guard Allonzo Trier is back healthy and should contribute heavily to this team. Parker Jackson Cartwright will also be the key to this team winning the championship. This senior guard does not score the ball, but he is an electric passer that has above average handles.

  1. Michigan State

Michigan State has been a favorite to win the tournament all year long.  They finished in first place in the Big Ten regular season standings, and lead the nation in assists per game. Miles Bridges is one of the best players in the country and is capable of taking over any game whenever he wants to. Michigan State has two solid wins over UNC and Purdue, but the rest of their schedule was fairly easy compared to other teams. But hey, Coach Izzo is one of the best in the business, and Michigan state has proven that they can win games.

  1. Gonzaga

Well Gonzaga has this guy.

Haven’t heard of him?   Johnathan Williams has tore it up all season and is a force in the post.  Killian Tillie has also  been absolutely on fire over the past four games posting monster numbers (16.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 62.8% fg). If he can stay hot then this improves an already solid Gonzaga interior. Plug Rui Hachimura into the mix and the Bulldogs have a decent big three capable of doing going the distance.

  1. Duke

Duke has had its ups and downs this season, but they are still a favorite to win the championship. Why? Well just take a look at their roster. Dukes entire starting five will most likely be in the NBA next year. Coach K IS the best coach in college basketball, Grayson Allen has been through it all when it comes to the NCAA tournament, Marvin Bagley III is unstoppable, and Duke is also second in the nation in rebounds per game. If Duke can figure out a way to improve it defense (which they have a little over the past week), then this team can take down any opponent.

  1. UNC

Why not talk about another ACC team. UNC who is the reigning national champion, is looking to repeat.  The team has played in huge games before and experience 100% matter in the March. Joel Berry II and Luke Maye have hit clutch shot after clutch shot, but the rest of this UNC team needs to step up on offense. It is just tough to bet against UNC in March, and they will look to catch fire in the ACC tournament.

Alright well there are just five out of the ten teams, that I believe have any chance at winning the championship. Come back Wednesday to see the next five teams that could possibly win the it all.
