Meet Your NL Cy Young Winner
The race for the NL Cy Young is close. Pitchers like Max Scherzer, Aaron Nola, Lester, and Kyle Freeland have all had amazing campaigns. However, my vote is for Jacob deGgrom. If you are just looking at the win column, then you would never look at deGrom as Cy Young candidate. Put the wins and losses aside and look at his ERA, strikeouts and innings pitched. deGrom has gone 10-9 with a 1.70 ERA/41ER, 269 K’s, in 217 innings pitched. Now that is a sexy stat line. He only trials Scherzer in K’s and innings pitched.

Yes, Scherzer has had an electrifying season. I am not taking away anything he has done. What sways me towards deGrom is that fact that he is pitching on a worse team then Scherzer. You have to factor that in while looking at the two stud pitchers. deGrom had a magical year, and he more than deserves the Cy Young award.
