Max Kellerman Out At ESPN’s First Take

Last week, multiple media sources announced that First Take’s Max Kellerman will be removed from the show and will not continue with Stephen A. Smith as the co-host of ESPN’s most popular show.

No one seems to know when Kellerman will be outed but he is expected to stay on at ESPN and will rejoin ESPN Radio. I’m not sure if this makes sense. I’m a huge First Take fan. I watched it everyday for 4 years at college. I actually loved the Kellerman hiring and thought his back and forth with Stephen A. and Molly was fine. It was very obvious a lot of his stuff was scripted but overall I liked him on the show.

But clearly ESPN didn’t and that’s all that matters. ESPN has been on a huge decline for a while now and this might finally be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Or, maybe they want Kellerman to revive ESPN radio and will give him his own show/podcast. Who knows. But who are they going to replace him with?  Rumor has it, no one. They will just have Stephen A. do the show and have a recurring guest every show. I don’t hate this but if this is the case then ESPN needs to start adding better analysts who know what they are talking about.  Because I can only listen to Dan Orlovsky so many times.

Whatever they decide to do it will be dramatic and could possibly make the show worse. But you will never know until you try and I applaud ESPN for trying. Now? Max Kellerman is out at First Take and Stephen A. Smith gets a new cohost.
