Many Predators players are off to hot starts, will they continue?

The Nashville Predators are 12-9-1 in twenty-two games so far this season. Many players are off to hot starts and have put the team in a great position in a tough division and conference. The Boys are buzzing and so far  the team have proven that the team really hasn’t taken a step back like what most people thought they would. After trading two prominent players in Ryan Ellis and Viktor Arvidsson and having Pekka Rinne retiring, the roster had a different look heading into the season. The team is younger, but the team is still a threat in the West.

Matt Duchene: 24 points(13 goals, 11 assists)

Entering his 3rd season with the team, many fans were thinking if Duchene really isn’t the guy the team signed a couple years ago.  Finally, Duchene is playing like the man the team signed. He is currently tied 8th in the NHL in goals and 11th in the NHL in points. With him on a line with Forsberg and Granlund, he is firing on all cylinders. I think he will continue his hot season.

Mikael Granlund: 25 points(5 goals, 20 assists)

Granlund has been one of the Predators most consistent players outside of guys like Roman Jose and Filip Forsberg. He is currently tied 3rd in the NHL in assists and 6th in the NHL in points.  He fits perfectly with guys like Duchene and Forsberg on his line and his assists are showing it. Will he continue? Yes, but he will slow down a bit.

Roman Josi: 20 points( 7 goals, 13 assists)

This shouldn’t be a surprise. Josi is the best player on the roster has been for a few seasons now. He is looking to capture his 2nd Norris Trophy for best defenseman. Josi  is currently tied 2nd in the NHL in points by a defenseman and that’s no surprise. He has been a top 5 defenseman in the NHL now for a few seasons now. The captain easily makes the list, will he continue? Absolutely.

Ryan Johansen: 18 points( 6 goals, 12 assists)

Just like Duchene, Johansen hasn’t lived up to his contract, but he is off to a great start this season. Johansen is shooting the puck more and generating more chances and it’s paying off. He is still the #1 center on the team and he is probing it this season. Will he continue? I think he doesn’t. I think with the 2nd line of               Forsberg-Granlund-Duchene, it’s going to be hard to produce outside of that line.

The Predators hope to keep this up because a lot of good teams won’t be in the bottom of the standings for long!
