Major NXT Superstars missing from WWE 2K19

WWE 2k19 is just about ready for it’s October release date, and 2K has announced the complete lineup that players will be available to choose from in this edition. A few weeks ago announced the fully available “on-disc roster,” but 2K has been announcing its roster since early this year, with Rey Mysterio and Ronda Rousey as it’s pre-order bonuses. Just yesterday, they announced the season pass which will contain a few extra additions that fans will surely be happy about. Names like Bobby Lashley, EC3, Candice LeRae, and NXT’s “ one and only,” Ricochet.

As great as this is for the game, a few BIG names are missing from the roster. Recent Cruiserweight Champion: Brian Kendrick is not currently announced. Nikki Cross, who’s been a household name in NXT for just shy of 2 years now, has not been announced. But the biggest surprise is that current NXT champion: Tommaso Ciampa is not listed for 2K19.

Ciampa reacted via Twitter:

Obviously, he was making light of the situation, but that tweet has now been deleted.

We don’t have an explanation for this at this time. Last year it was rumored that Andrade declined to be included because he isn’t getting paid as much as some of the guys on the main roster. I suppose that could be an answer this year as well, but again, we ultimately don’t know.

This is the second year now that the NXT champion is not included in 2K’s annual release. Last year, Andrade “Cien” Almas was not included in 2K18, and at that time was the current NXT champion as well. Could we see an NXT champion curse brewing?

If you so desire, you can pick up WWE 2k19 on October 5th if you pre-order, and it will go on sale worldwide on October 9th for everyone else.
