Lock, Fade And Stay Away CFB (9/26/20)
If you want the rest of my CFB lock(s), and all of Fiesta’s make sure that you are following us on twitter (@thechasers617). Also make sure to follow us on Sound Cloud as well (@thechasers).
Lock(s):
Iowa State -2.5 (1.1u/1u)
Brock Purdy and the Cyclones are trying to rebound from their loss to UL-Lafayette. Iowa State is a favorite in this one as they are on the road at TCU. TCU is playing their first game of the season, and with a big roster overhaul it makes it hard for me to trust TCU. The Horned Frogs lost their top two running backs, and are only returning two starters on the offensive line. Also a big issue for me is that TCU’s starting quarterback Max Duggan isn’t starting due to a heart condition, but he is cleared to play. How much do we see of Duggan is the big question. Iowa State’s defense will be a lot better today, and will cover this spread easily. Lock in Iowa State at -2.5 as I am risking 1.1 units to make 1 unit in this one.
Syracuse +8 (1.1u/1u)
The Orange are looking to bounce back after a rough start to their 2020 season. Syracuse is an eight point underdog to a Georgia Tech team that I am having trouble reading so far. The Yellow Jackets won their first game against a smelly Florida State team, and despite the final score looked pretty good against UCF last week. I don’t have confidence in Georgia Tech in this spot especially as an eight point favorite. I think we get the best version of Syracuse today, their defense looked good last week against Pittsburgh. The Orange offense is going to get going today, and we will see not only Syracuse cover this spread. I see the Orange winning this game outright. Lock in Syracuse at +8 as I am risking 1.1 units to make 1 in this one.
Fade:
Auburn -6.5
I can’t stand the hype around sophomore quarterback Bo Nix. He was an average quarterback last year, that had some good moments that helped Auburn’s season. Their defense a season ago was indeed very good, but I don’t see them being the same defense from a season ago. Auburn is set to start two red shirt freshman including one at CB. K.J. Britt is their big piece returning that I think helps that defense this season. Auburn is only returning one starter on their offensive line, so I see a big struggle for their running game in their first game of the season. Kentucky is going to have a field day with Auburn’s revamped D-Line fade Auburn -6.5 today.
Stay Away:
Pittsburgh -2
Pittsburgh is in for a fight today against Louisville. As the Panthers are going to have to contain not only Michale Cunningham, but they have to make sure Javian Hawkins doesn’t give a performance like he did last week. This is a big game for Pittsburgh’s defense, who has looked good so far in 2020. They are facing an NFL caliber in Cunningham who gives me Teddy Bridgewater vibes from his days at Louisville. The Cardinals are locked in and ready to prove that last week was a fluke. I also expect Kenny Pickett to have some turnovers that will be crucial to Pittsburgh’s outcome today. Stay far far away from Pittsburgh in this one.
