Lock, Fade And Stay Away (8/3/20)

It is the start of a brand new week, and we are looking to start this week off on the right foot. Fiesta’s picks are on twitter (@thechasers617), and the other half of my locks are also there so go ahead and give us a follow to see that. Here are some of my locks, my favorite to fade, and my stay away bet of the day.

Lock(s):

Memphis Grizzlies +4.5

The Memphis Grizzlies are currently holding onto that eighth seed in the Western Conference, and have a tough draw today against the New Orleans Pelicans. One thing to look out for in this game is the playing time of Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson. If Zion plays more than he has played so far during the bubble, the Pelicans are going to be a tough team to play against. Unfortunately, they haven’t been that team so far since the restart.

Memphis is a solid all-around team and I see them as an easy lock today due to two things. One being the fact that Ja Morant is on their team and he is a walking bucket. The other reason is the lack of minutes Zion seems to be getting. Look at Memphis +4.5 as an absolute lock and who knows their moneyline (+160) might not be a bad idea either.

Colorado Rockies -126

One of the surprising teams in baseball in my opinion is none other than the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies are sitting at 6-2 and have won their last six out of seven since dropping the season opener. Colorado’s offense has been spectacular and their pitching staff has been getting the job done for them. Tonight’s pitching matchup is Johnny Cueto for San Francisco going up against Chi Chi Gonzalez for the Rockies.

The Rockies pitching staff on average gives up 3 runs per game, while their offense scores on average 5.3 runs per game. That is a very good average to look at, and against a sub par pitching staff like the Giants; the Rockies should be an even heavier favorite tonight. Lock in the Rockies at -126 as they look to win their seventh out of their last eighth.

Fade:

Edmonton Oilers -135

The Edmonton Oilers were one of my locks in their game one matchup against the Blackhawks on Saturday. Then the veteran Chicago Blackhawks offense showed me why that was a bad decision on my end. Chicago is 6-2 straight up in their last eight games and are 4-1 straight up in their last five against Edmonton. Even with Connor McDavid on the ice, I see the Oilers at a little bit of a disadvantage up front. With the Oilers being the favorite again today I am going to have to fade them due to the experience the Blackhawks have in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Stay Away:

Over 8 (New York Mets vs Atlanta Braves)

Yes I know, I am staying away from the over on the Mets and Braves game yet again. Well it hasn’t hit still, so why should I take the over? The under in the Mets game has hit in ten out of their last fourteen games going into last season. For the Braves the under has hit in four out of the last six games as well. Also tonight’s pitching matchup is Jacob deGrom going up against Mike Soroka. Two very good pitchers that will pitch a pitching duel tonight. Stay far far away from the under in this matchup yet again.
