I am looking to bounce back from a tough start to the month of August, here are the written reasons why I have taken these two locks. If you want the rest of my locks go follow @thechasers617 on twitter. That is where you’ll see both Fiesta and I’s locks for the day. Also here is my favorite that I am fading today, and the bet that I am staying far away from today.
Boston Celtics -180
The Boston Celtics are coming off a tough loss on Friday against the Bucks, and there was a little controversy down the stretch of that game. Giannis Antetokounmpo appeared to have fouled Daniel Theis with about two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Which would have led to Giannis getting his sixth foul and therefore fouling out of the game. The refs reviewed it, and made the decision that it wasn’t a foul. Giannis went to work afterwards and helped the Bucks beat the Celtics.
Today the Celtics play the Trailblazers who played a tough overtime game on Friday against the Grizzlies. I think Portland’s legs are going to be hurting a little bit today, and the Celtics will capitalize on it to take the win today. Lock in the Celtics due to the fact that they were very much in their game on Friday with Jayson Tatum shooting 2-19 from the field. Look for Tatum to bounce back today, and for the Celtics to lock up their first win of the restart.
Toronto Maple Leafs -145
Toronto is opening up their qualifying round matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight. The Maple Leafs is playing on their home ice for the remainder of the Eastern Conference playoff sequence, and we should see that advantage tonight against Columbus. Don’t forget the Blue Jackets were the eighth seed a season ago, and went on to sweep the President’s Trophy Winner Tampa Bay Lightning in four games in the first round. One thing going against Columbus right now is that they are 2-4 in their last six games against Toronto. Columbus is a tough team, but I think the skill of Toronto is going to show tonight as I am locking in the Maple Leafs to take game one tonight.
Nashville Predators -135
Nashville is a team that I can very much see struggling with their qualifying round matchup against the Arizona Coyotes. In Nashville’s last ten matchups against the Coyotes they are 5-4-1 against them. That is even between the two teams, and I also really like Arizona’s young core offensively. Adding Taylor Hall to that core makes that team much more of a threat, and I think we will see it on display tonight. I am fading Nashville in game one, even with Pekka Rinne in between the pipes.
Over 11 (New York Mets vs Atlanta Braves)
This over/under for the Mets and the Braves today is way too high. In the Mets first nine games the over has hit three times out of nine. For the Braves the over has hit four out of their first nine games. The Mets also have hit the under in nine out of their last thirteen games dating back to last season as well. Also in their last nine matchups the under has hit six out of the last nine times. This game has the under written all over it so stay far away from the over.
