The Boston Celtics got their doors blown off by the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night, 141-126. Following the game, Kyrie Irving solidified himself as a Boston villain forever.
Irving would wipe his foot on the Celtics logo at center court and then began to walk off the court. The classless move comes on the heels of his comments about returning to Boston before Game 3.

Comments Prior to Game 3
Following Game 2, Irving made comments that were met with criticism from fans and media. Irving made comments about Boston and racism which caught the ire of people and generated discussion.
“Hopefully, we can just keep it strictly basketball; there’s no belligerence or racism going on — subtle racism,” said Irving. “People yelling s— from the crowd, but even if it is, it’s part of the nature of the game and we’re just going to focus on what we can control.”
The city of Boston has had a history of racism surrounding African American athletes. Back in January of 2019, the Celtics banned a fan for two years for comments directed towards DeMarcus Cousins.
Separate from the NBA, there also was the situation back in 2017 with Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones.
Fan Arrested for Allegedly Throwing Water Bottle at Irving
As the Nets and Irving were walking off the court, the live feed of the game caught a fan throwing a water bottle at Irving.

The fan who allegedly threw the water bottle was later found and arrested by Boston Police.
Given that while he was a Celtic they let Kyrie do whatever he wanted, they wanted him to stay and then never said a bad thing about him once he left makes it a little confusing he stomped on the logo.
Probably was more towards the city/fans than the organization I would think
Westbrook had popcorn thrown at him as he was leaving the game with an apparent leg injury. As he was limping into the tunnel popcorn came raining down on Westbrook.
“Any other setting, I know a guy on the street wouldn’t come up and dump popcorn on my head because he knows what would happen,” Westbrook said. “In these arenas, you got to start protecting the players. We’ll see what the NBA does.”
Irving wiping his foot on the Celtics logo is classless and embarrassing for him. Celtics fans have been angry with Irving since he left in free agency after saying he was going to re-sign with the Celtics.
The C’s fans and management Placated to Kyrie’s needs when he was with the C’s. We showed him nothing but love and support every single time he was on the court and off.
Fans reactions towards Irving has been deserved but there is no place for throwing objects at players.
The NBA will undoubtedly ban the fan who allegedly threw the water bottle. Celtics fans will go on to loathe Irving forever making him one of the biggest villains in Boston Sports history.
