Kansas City looks to prove themselves more throughout October
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chief are off to a hot start by winning all their first four games in the 2018 NFL season. This team, in my opinion, was being over looked. Everyone was talking about Pittsburg Steelers and New England Patriots as the favorites to be in the AFC championship game. With a Quarterback that was entering his first year as the starter, no one believed that they would look this dominant than they are right now. Pat Mahomes is becoming must watch TV and has the potential of becoming the next big star in NFL.
Wait until he faces a real defense, they said…
Wait until he faces a tough road environment, they said…
Wait until he has to bring his team back from behind, they said…
Done waiting. #Mahomes

The defense for the Chiefs, however, has been the only weakness during this hot start. They are 28th in rushing defense and 31st in passing defense. That’s not going to get the job done when the team enters January. I don’t know how long Mahomes can keep this hot streak going but the defense will need to figure out their part if they want to content for a Super Bowl. This coming month will determine if the Kansas City are a true Super Bowl contender team or just one of those teams that get football fans temporarily excited.
The Kansas City Chiefs defense is abysmal. They cannot tackle. Here’s Royce Freeman running right through them…again. pic.twitter.com/NK8yoEzsID

Jacksonville, New England, Cincinnati, and then Denver again. Four opponents this month that are 500 or over winning teams that are also looking to compete in January. I’m looking at the match up against the New England Patriots. A game that is Sunday night, in Foxboro, and a New England that looks like it is now starting to pick up its rhythm. If you go into that game and lay an egg against that team, then you aren’t ready because, most likely, you will to go through them to get to the Super Bowl. If you can’t get pressure on Tom Brady, he’ll have a field day on your defense. Coach Bill Belichick will find ways to contain Mahomes, as he is one of the best at taking away your best option.
Overall, I do feel the Kansas City Chiefs are a legitimate contender. If they can fix the problems on the defensive side, then I don’t see why they cannot contend for the regular season and potentially, have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. You know, that would be huge for that organization. The way Patrick Mahomes is playing now, shows that he can be an up and coming star in the NFL. As a diehard NFL football fan, I am quite impressed with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. This is a team I will be looking forward to watching every Sunday.
