Julian Edelman Sidelined For Three Weeks

There are certain players in the Patriots organization that you don’t want to see anything bad happen to, ever. Tom Brady is of course choice number one. But at a second is Julian Edelman, another one that Patriots fans hate to see bad things happen to at any time. Well, Patriots fans might be a little bit confused and worried about the latest news regarding the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

So this was confirmed by Schefter and Yates, two strong NFL credit sources. Julian Edelman will be out for three weeks with a hand injury. Keep in mind, the first Patriots preseason game is coming up within the next few weeks.

My Thoughts On This Scenario

Is it ideal right now with training camp approaching? No, definitely not. But is it the worst thing in the world? Again, no definitely not. We lost Edelman for a whole season and saw the results of it. Especially with an offense thin at wide receiver and tight end as it is, they cannot afford Edelman out longer than the reported three week time period.

In Conclusion

It’s not great by any means. But, it isn’t a season ending injury either. This will allow Edelman more time to rest up for when the real games start counting in September. If the Patriots want a shot at championship number seven, then Edelman healthy the whole season is vital at this point. Get #11 healthy, get #12 his favorite target 100% ready to go, and go try to bring home another Lombardi trophy. That sounds pretty good to me!
