Jayson Tatum Turns 22 Today
We love our birthdays. They’re the greatest day of the year. You get gifts, cake, pick the restaurant you want to go to, it’s fantastic! One rising Boston sports superstar has a birthday today too. His name? Jayson Tatum! Tatum turns 22 today as the Celtics play tonight against the Brooklyn Nets.

With Tatum turning 22 today, I have a few thoughts/flashbacks we should all enjoy.
The Dunk on LeBron In Game 7 of the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals
Everything about this was awesome! The look on LeBron’s face after the dunk, the slight bump from Tatum, the yell from Marcus Morris, it was all legendary. This is when we knew we had something special with Tatum. Obviously, the Celtics lost that game. But that dunk goes down as an all-time Boston sports classic. Something tells me another LeBron vs. Tatum playoff matchup is coming very soon…stay tuned!
The Different Ways of Scoring
Jayson Tatum. A walking bucket 💧

Like the tweet says, Tatum is a walking bucket. He’s not taking these long mid-range stepback jump shots anymore. He’s going to the basket more aggressively. He even shoots more threes this season. His game has gotten so much better. For anyone that thought trading him would be a good idea, how do you look now? I’ll admit, I was one contemplating a Tatum centered deal for Anthony Davis back in the summer. Now? I’m glad Tatum proved me wrong. Man, is he fun to watch when he’s putting up big time shots!
The Rise to Stardom
Jayson Tatum has been on a tear this February 🔥
∙ 30.3 PPG
∙ 7.2 RPG
∙ 50% FG
∙ 49.5% 3-pt FG pic.twitter.com/A5Ugy7I8Hg— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) February 26, 2020
Tatum is becoming a star right before our very eyes. Look at the numbers he put up in February! Over 30 points a game? I like that! 50% field goal shooting? That’s pretty good as well. He made his first All-star team this year. But at this rate, even after the 41 point performance in L.A., Tatum can be a top five NBA player in short time. It’s great to sit back and reflect on just how far Tatum has come while in Boston.
In Conclusion
Happy Birthday again to Jayson Tatum. The city of Boston is falling in love with him. What would help make the birthday better is a win tonight. Tatum is listed as questionable with an illness. But on his birthday, I think he’ll do whatever it takes to play. The future can only be brighter for the 22 year old. Hopefully, he celebrates more birthdays here in Boston for the long haul.
