Is The XFL Good?

We are officially 3 weeks into the inaugural season of the XFL and it feels like a fair time to start questioning whether or not it’s actually good. I mean it didn’t matter the first 2 weeks in because I was just happy there was football to watch. You’re trying to learn the new rules, the novelty of being able to see guys who were great in college but couldn’t quite make it in the NFL, and let’s be honest we were all just loving the fact that we could bet on football still.

There’s always a void in my life when the bowl games are over and the last piece of confetti is swept up from the Super Bowl. Seriously just streamline the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl right into my veins. But after football season you have to begin having tough conversations with yourself. What do me and my friends do from noon on Saturday to midnight on Sunday? Do I just watch hockey now? Can I bet on the Oscars even if I haven’t seen any of the movies getting awards? Scary stuff.

For all of those reasons it’s easy to get swept up in the whole thing and you better believe I’m swept up. I’ve got XFL fever. Yeah it’s not the best football ever but dammit it’s entertaining as hell. I love the rule changes especially in the kicking game. Going for 3 after you score a touchdown? You kiddin’ me? One of the most exciting plays in sports. Not to mention the XFL’s Twitter game is unreal.

Between their main account creating this ridiculous laugh out loud graphic for Josh Johnson.

To the BattleHawks putting up this video after their first win.

The whole thing has me wrapped up in delusion and I love every second of it. If the XFL is successful it could mean we have football year round and there are still dumb dumb brains out there not tuning in? You’re selfish and I hate you.

The only thing that would make this better is if they brought a team to Philly. Can you imagine the mixture of a Philly fan base and a league like the XFL? It’s as volatile and exciting as it gets. I can’t wait for week 4.
