Ferguson Out of UFC 223 Main Event, In Steps Blessed!

UFC president Dana White dropped a bombshell on MMA fans this past Sunday. What many MMA fans thought was an April fools joke, turned out to be reality. Once again Tony Ferguson vs Khabib has been officially canceled. Tony Ferguson had to pull out with a leg injury. Ferguson tore his LCL tripping over some wires during one of his media obligations before the fight. This fight has been canceled numerous times, and MMA fans are in disbelief this fight has been canceled yet again. When it comes to fighters pulling out it’s been a very unfortunate year for the UFC. UFC 221 Whittaker pulled out, UFC 222 Holloway pulled out, and now UFC 223 Ferguson pulled out. UFC 223 is this Saturday and fighting Khabib on a weeks notice is no easy task. Luckily for UFC fans the 145 pound champion Max “Blessed” Holloway decided to step in. This fight between Holloway and Khabib is definitely main event worthy.

WHY IS THIS FIGHT SO INTERESTING?

Holloway is on a 12 fight win streak, and Khabib is 25-0 in MMA. If you combine both these men’s win streaks they’re heading into the octagon with a combined 37 fight win streak. Max Holloway always comes into the octagon ready for a war. Even on a weeks notice I still think Holloway will be a tough fight for Khabib. The thing that fascinates me most about Holloway is his mind set. He truly believes he’s the best fighter in the world, and he has a chance to prove that Saturday night. If Holloway becomes the first man to beat Khabib, he could easily be considered the best fighter in the UFC. This fight is for the 155 pound title meaning it’s still 5 rounds. If Holloway wins he’ll be the second man in UFC history to hold two belts simultaneously. The first man to do it was Conor Mcgregor. Even though Ferguson had to pull out, Khabib vs Holloway is still an amazing main event. UFC 223 is definitely a pay per view MMA fans don’t want to miss.
