Two weeks in the books and fantasy football is just as exciting as ever. We love the weekly battles and now we move onto week number three as we prepare for the third week of games. A lot of players that need to be started and need to sit in week number three is about to be discussed here. Now with that being said here are my starts and my sits for the week.
Sam Darnold is definitely not the same quarterback that we saw during his time with the Jets. He isn’t seeing ghosts anymore and his numbers are showing it. In his first two games Darnold has thrown for 584 yards and has four total touchdowns on the season. In my opinion in week number three, Darnold can easily finish in the top ten for fantasy quarterbacks. With the Houston defense being his next opponent, you should start Darnold in all formats in week three.
We’re sitting Winston again for the second consecutive week. He struggled against that Carolina defense and this week he takes on the Patriots defense that had four interceptions last week. Winston’s numbers last week were absymal. Throwing for 111 passing yards and adding two interceptions is definitely not how you wanted to follow up your five touchdown performance. I have Winston just on the cusp of being in the top 25 fantasy quarterbacks this week, but I would sit him at all cost in week number three.
This is going to be the return game for Barkley. Being matched up with arguably one of the worst defenses in the league in Atlanta makes me think the Giants are going to feast. I love Barkley in this spot as I have him in my top ten this week for fantasy running backs. Saquon has struggled to start the season, but I think the rust will clear off in week number three. Look for Saquon to be a primetime player in week number three and if you have him don’t trade him this week. Start him this week and sell with his value being high after a solid performance.
Myles Gaskin has been a name that I didn’t like at the beginning of the season. He has now become a name that I will sit every single week of this fantasy football season. He has fourteen rushing attempts in two games which is horrendous. Gaskin has 9 receptions in two games which will help in PPR formats, but he hasn’t been effective in those either. Only cracking an average of 10.6 fantasy points per game. For teams that have drafted him to be their RB2, that is not a good look for them. I think Gaskin is someone you should strongly consider dumping before it is too late. Sit him not only this week, but for weeks to come as well.
D.J. Moore is the number one target in Carolina. We have known that, but so far he is playing like one. With Darnold throwing him the ball, he is going to be very successful in all fantasy leagues. Moore has received 8 or more targets in both games this season. One thing that has always been Moore’s problem is he is a big reception guy, but doesn’t see the endzone a lot. He has one touchdown in the first two games, but he needs to be more consistent in the redzone. However, with the matchup he has this week he can easily double his point projection. Start Moore and if you don’t have him try and make a trade for him.
Another Miami Dolphin to sit in week number three. De’Vante Parker is a guy that should not sniff a spot in your lineup this week. With Brissett being the starter this week, I see him targeting a guy like Jaylen Waddle or even the tight end Gesicki a lot more than Parker this week. Look for Parker’s numbers in targets and receptions to go down in week number three. Stay away from him this week and if you have him do yourself the favor and sit him this week.
Gronk has been the tight end that you want to have if you missed out on the top three. Gronk is easily in the conversation as a top three fantasy tight end this season. Two games he has four touchdowns and averages 24.5 fantasy points per game. The connection between him and Brady has gotten back to normal after the shaky start to their Buccaneers tenure. Gronkowski is the Gronk of old and is a must play every single week. Start Gronkowski this week in his matchup against the Rams.
Tyler Higbee is my tight end to sit this week. Tampa Bay’s defense has done well against tight ends this season. They held Pitts to 73 receiving yards and the week before that no tight end had over 45 receiving yards for the Cowboys. Higbee struggled to get looked at last week, as he only got targeted once in their win over the Colts. Look for Higbee’s struggles to continue in week number three and avoid him at all cost.
