Fantasy Football: Start / Sit Week 15

If you’re reading this, you must be looking for advice regarding your fantasy playoffs. Hopefully you sought out my advice last week because I nailed almost all of my start / sits (other than Alexander Mattison). But if you didn’t don’t worry: I am back and ready to give you more starts and sits. Let’s get rolling…

Quarterback:

Start- Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray has been a terrible option at quarterback since the Arizona Cardinals returned from their bye week. Instead of coming back better than ever, Murray returned from the bye by posting back to back 13 point performances.

Considering Murray has only scored less than that two other times, the 2019 number one overall pick is set up to bounce back against a Cleveland Browns defense that is nowhere near as scary without defensive end Myles Garrett. Murray should be able to put up some points both in the air and on the ground in a battle against his former collegiate teammate Baker Mayfield.

Sit- Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers

After torching the New Orleans Saints defense in a thrilling 48-46 victory, Jimmy Garoppolo is getting all the hype. The hype surrounding Jimmy G is definitely deserved after leading San Fran to a 11-2 record through their first 13 games, but don’t expect much in fantasy this week. In a matchup at home against the Atlanta Falcons, I expect the 9ers to just roll over their inferior counterpart using the defense and running game they have leaned on all season.

Besides, Garoppolo has really only had four great (25+ point) fantasy games this season: once against the Cincinnati Bengals, twice against the Arizona Cardinals secondary, and last week in a 94 point battle with the Saints. Add in that Raheem Mostert is coming into his own with back to back stellar performances, San Fran is poised to feature their ground attack.

Running Back:

Start- Phillip Lindsay, Denver Broncos

Phillip Lindsay has clearly become the head of the Denver backfield. Over the last four weeks Lindsay has received 62 carries while backfield mate Royce Freeman has only received 23 carries.

The reason that Denver has made the switch to feature the former undrafted free-agent is due to his big play ability. Over the past two seasons, Lindsay has had 16 runs of 20+ yards. To give you some perspective, all-world running back Christian McCaffrey has 12 of those runs in the same period of time. Lindsay has a great chance to have a couple of those runs this weekend against a Kansas city defense that is vulnerable to the run. The Chiefs give up 5.1 yards per carry and I believe in the talent of Lindsay to get it done this week.

Sit- Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles

The rookie from Penn State was featured as a start for me in week 13, but this week he is on the other end of the spectrum.

When Sanders left the matchup against the New York Giants Monday night, journeyman Boston Scott came in and produced right away. Scott was on the field for 44% of the snaps, carrying the ball 10 times for 59 yards and a touchdown. Scott also had 6 catches for 69 yards; his performance was what people were waiting for out of Sanders.

Scott has to have carved out a role with his play Monday, and we can’t forget about Jay Ajayi and the potential return of Jordan Howard. So even in a good matchup against the Washinton Redskins, the uncertainty surrounding the Philly backfield makes me want to sit all of my Miles Sanders shares.

Wide Receiver:

Start- Dede Westbrook, Jacksonville Jaguars

This could be a huge week for Westbrook with Jags number one wideout, D.J. Chark, ailing. If Chark isn’t at 100% or misses the game completely, Westbrook becomes the number one option for Gardner Minshew and a Jaguars team that is taking on an Oakland Raiders team responsible for giving up the fifth most passing yards in the league.

Sit- Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals

Since complaining about his lack of targets in a week 11 matchup with the Oakland Raiders, Tyler Boyd has scored 19, 16, 13 PPR points respectively. That has been good enough for a weekly flex play, but with an upcoming matchup against the Patriots, the 1-11 Cincinnati Bengals (and Tyler Boyd) are in some trouble.
