Fantasy Football Preview: Philadelphia vs Tampa Bay

Week six is here and fantasy football is starting to get very interesting. The bye weeks have commenced and now all fantasy owners need to strategize. This Thursday night matchup is a must watch for fantasy owners. A lot of key pieces are being played in this matchup and it is time to look at this matchup as a whole. With that being said here is my fantasy football preview for the Thursday night matchup.

Tom Brady Being Tom Brady

Thursday Night football has been a great time for Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. Brady is 13-3 in his career on Thursday nights and has a 33/8 touchdown to interception ratio in those games as well. Philadelphia is ranked 13th against opposing quarterbacks and looked good last week against Sam Darnold. Now obviously, Brady is on his own level so I take what Philly’s defense did last week with a grain of salt. Besides week four, Tom Brady has been an absolute fantasy workhorse. I see the trend continuing here, but don’t forget this is Brady’s first game against the Eagles since his Super Bowl loss to them. He is going to coming out firing, Tom Brady easily finishes as a top 3 fantasy QB this week.

Tampa Bay Wide Outs

All three of Brady’s main targets (Evans, Godwin, Brown) all put up monster numbers in week number five. Antonio Brown 7 receptions 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Mike Evans 6 receptions 113 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. Chris Godwin 7 receptions 70 receiving yards. They all saw eight or more targets (Evans and AB 8, Godwin 11) last week and I expect to see more of the same in week number six. All three of these wide receivers are must plays this week in my opinion. Chris Godwin is the one I really like this week. He only has two touchdowns this season, but he has been racking up the receiving yards as well. Evans and Antonio Brown always get a plethora of targets week in and week out. However this will be the week of Chris Godwin.

Does It Still Hurt?

Jalen Hurts has scored no less than 21 points each week this season. However, I saw some struggle last week when it came to passing the football. If Hurts struggles to go over the 200 passing yard mark, it becomes a long day for him. We have seen how Tampa’s defense has looked this season, it should still hurt then right? They have given up three hundred or more passing yards in three out of five games this season. So we should see Jalen Hurts take that step forward this week and be a top five fantasy quarterback. I am a little hesitant with the recent struggle, but I am playing him in all formats as a top ten fantasy quarterback.

Avoid Miles Sanders Like The Plague

Miles Sanders has been an absolute bust so far this season. Sanders currently ranked as RB30 has been a horrendous fantasy prospect this season. Many people drafted him to be their RB2 and boy has that not paid off. Sanders has yet to hit over 75 yards rushing this season, has yet to find the endzone, and has not eclipsed a 20 point performance yet this year. Miles Sanders is a player I am not only sitting this week, but for the remainder of the season. Kenneth Gainwell has taken key touches away from him and it can only go worse from here. He is my must avoid for this matchup.
