Danny Ainge hired as CEO/Alternate Governor of Utah Jazz

When Danny Ainge left the Boston Celtics after the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season, it was the start of a new era. Ainge did a tremendous job of leading the Celtics to an NBA title in 2008 after acquiring Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett via trades. But after that, he never won another championship. So when Ainge left, people questioned whether or not it would be the end for him in the NBA front office. Well…that’s not the case. Danny Ainge agreed to become the CEO and alternate governor of the Utah Jazz, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The move is interesting and honestly, kind of expected. Here’s a few factors that probably led to Danny Ainge going to the Utah Jazz.

Danny Ainge and his College Days

Don’t forget folks, Danny Ainge played for Brigham Young University way back in the day. Where is BYU? In Utah! Now, this is probably irrelevant. But then again, having familiarity with the state of Utah could’ve led to this decision. Would you put it past Danny to have that play a factor into his decision? I know I don’t!

Danny Ainge Realizes the Utah Jazz are GOOD!

The Utah Jazz are having a monster season this year. They currently sit at 20-7 and are third in the Western Conference, behind the Warriors and Suns. They have a franchise player in Donovan Mitchell who looks more and more like a star every year. There’s also Defensive Player of the Year candidate Rudy Gobert. Point being, Utah is loaded and poised to make a playoff run. Of course Danny Ainge will want to jump on board! If he can make some moves aka “trader Danny” style, the Jazz could even be a favorite to win the West. Never know!

Danny Ainge Realized the Celtics are AVERAGE!

Danny Ainge isn’t a dope. He knows the Celtics weren’t going anywhere in the East right now. Yes, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are your future. But honestly, I think Danny might’ve wanted something different, away from Boston. The Celtics are currently 14-14 and model the motto of “consistently inconsistent”. Danny Ainge going to the Utah Jazz shouldn’t shock anyone, considering how the Celtics are at the moment.

In Conclusion

Good for Danny Ainge for getting back into the NBA! He can be an asset to the Jazz in a smaller role. He’ll work closely with GM Justin Zanik and maybe even get the Jazz back to the late 1990’s type of level. Either way, the Jazz made a smart move bringing on Ainge to help Zanik continue to move this Jazz organization in the right direction toward a championship.
