College Football Roundup: Castle’s Top 10

Week seven of the college football season simply didn’t disappoint. In total we saw eight Top-25 teams fall and ultimately learned a great deal about how the playoff landscape will shape out.

All four of the favorites – Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and Penn State – took care of business and walked away victorious from their Top-25 match-ups. If you’ve been following along, I was a perfect 3-3 in predicting those games. No big deal.

As with every week of college football, there was unforeseen chaos too. The No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs lost in 2OT at home to an unranked South Carolina side and it might’ve derailed their playoff aspirations.

After all the madness unfolded, here’s how the AP ranked this week’s top 10:

But we aren’t going to settle for those rankings because where’s the fun in that. Here’s my completely perfect and completely undisputed rankings:

  1. Ohio State 6-0
  2. LSU 6-0
  3. Oklahoma 6-0
  4. Alabama 6-0
  5. Clemson 6-0
  6. Penn State 6-0
  7. Wisconsin 6-0
  8. Florida 6-1
  9. Oregon 6-1
  10. Boise State

Not let’s break it down.

At the top spot is Ohio State. As much as it pains me to put the Buckeyes there, they have been the best team in the country thus far. Justin Fields and JK Dobbins obliterate everything in their path and it hasn’t been close. It’s looking like Ohio State and Penn State are on a collision course for a match-up of unbeatens in Columbus in November.

Spots two through five is where it gets interesting. I decided to reward LSU and Oklahoma the higher spots because they’ve shown me what they can do against quality competition. Alabama and Clemson might still be the best teams but they haven’t been tested as much as the other schools ahead of them.

The Penn State Nittany Lions check in at No. 6 this week after going to Iowa City and securing a victory against a tough Iowa squad. We found out Penn State is for real and they’re no longer flying under the radar. James Franklin and company have another chance to make a huge statement this weekend as the host No. 16 Michigan in the annual White Out game. Not to mention both College Gameday and the Barstool College Football show will be in down. Pray for the city of State College.

The bottom of my top 10 gets crazy because there aren’t that many good teams left to pick from. I left Notre Dame, Georgia and Auburn off of my list because they’re all frauds.

And why not show some love to undefeated Boise State. The blue turf is undefeated too.

That’ll do it for this installment of college football, be sure to check back later this week for my college football preview.
