Colby Cave will never be forgotten
The Boston Bruins celebrated the life of the late Colby Cave on Thursday night from the T.D. Garden. Cave passed away from a brain bleed from a colloid cyst that was causing pressure on his brain.
Before the game, a video tribute that contained highlights from the time Cave spent with both the Bruins and Oilers played over the Garden. Both teams joined together for the moment to honor the late Cave with his wife Emily at center ice.
For Colby. 💛🖤

Emily would perform the ceremonial puck drop prior to the game. Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron and Oilers captain Connor McDavid met Cave for the puck drop. Both players shared a long hug with Emily prior to the puck drop. She would hug other Bruins and Oilers players as she would come off the ice.
Colby Cave will never be forgotten

The 25-year-old Cave spent five years in the Bruins’ system before debuting with them on Dec. 21, 2017. Cave had appeared in 23 NHL games for Boston when Edmonton claimed him off waivers in January 2019. Overall, Cave played 67 career NHL games, he would net four goals and had nine assists.
The teams are raising money for the Colby Cave Memorial Fund and The Boston Bruins Foundation will be auctioning off game-used sticks from both teams. The auction will be a 50/50 Raffle that will run through Nov. 16 and that will benefit the fund.
If you would like to place a bid on the sticks, bids will be accepted at BruinsAuctions.org. The 50/50 tickets can also be purchased from the same site, BruinsAuctions.org/5050.
Thank you, Colby
“Colby was one of the most genuine kids I’ve ever coached,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. “Nobody saw it coming. It’s difficult. Much more difficult for his family and for Emily, but still, it’s jarring. But hopefully, she’s doing well. It sounds like she is. Hopefully, she’ll have some positive experiences while she’s here in New England.”
Rest easy, Colby Cave.
Bruins & Oilers will honor and remember Colby Cave tonight – just thinking back about how happy he was to score his first NHL goal and how happy his teammates were for him as well. 💛 pic.twitter.com/Qhx3p7yr79
