Can The Phoenix Suns Win A Championship?
This season, the Phoenix Suns did something they haven’t done since the Steve Nash era – make the playoffs. At the end of last season, Phoenix traded a ton of young players and picks for future Hall of Famer and top 3 point guard of all-time Chris Paul. This trade was looked at by some as a “head scratcher.” Why would Paul want to waste one of his last few years on a team who has done nothing? But boy were we wrong!
Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Mikal Bridges are been nothing short of awesome this season. Not to mention the fantastic supporting cast of Jae Crowder, Cam Johnson, and Dario Saric who have been great as well. Phoenix is currently in second in the West but only a game behind Utah for playoff advantage. If the season ended today they would have a favorable matchup against Portland.
I cannot stress how good Phoenix has been this season. It is great to see a “no name team” contend for something. I call them a no name because that is what they have been for the last decade. But their success lies with Chris Paul. You want to talk about MVP and being valuable? Chris Paul has been as valuable as you can get. He is not flashy with points or ridiculous passes, but rather he is a field general. It is tough to put into words but more importantly you have to see and watch how Paul dictates games. He has not only made Booker elite but he is helping Ayton and Bridges find themselves in the pro game.
Prediction:
I think Phoenix is going to be my pick out West. I know they will have to beat the Clippers, who have been bad in my opinion this year, and Utah if the cards fall right. But with the way they play and who they have, I will take the Hall of Fame point guard team any day.
