Cam Newton is Still as Immature as Ever
Yesterday, Panthers’ beat writer Jourdan Rodrigue asked Cam Newton an in-depth question about Devin Funchess and his routes. Newton completely disrespected her:
I don’t get how it’s all of a sudden funny to him when a female reporter asks a more in-depth question. Cam Newton has been in the NFL answering questions like this for 6 years now and he still thinks it’s funny when a female gets in depth with her job?Whether you think it’s funny or not, you must admit that it takes a complete buffoon to think that’s a good thing to say out loud, into a microphone, with a bunch of people recording every single word you say.
Am I really shocked though? This is the same guy who after a loss in the Super Bowl, ran away from his post game press conference because he couldn’t handle listening to Broncos corner Chris Harris talk about how well Denver was able to execute against him:
So no, I’m not shocked by his immaturity at all. There are and have been plenty of good female reporters in sports for some time now. Some of them know more than I do. And are there some bad ones too? Absolutely, but that girl didn’t deserve to get her question mocked by some idiot in front of her colleagues. Her job is to ask questions like that, and that’s all she was trying to do.

What I find as further evidence of Newton’s immaturity and poor sportsmanship is how he is fine speaking to the media after a win, but often blows them off after his team lost. I’m not a fan of Tom Brady, but at least he meets his obligations in a professional manner. And since the coach and owner of the Panthers refuse to address Newton’s obvious disrespect, he will never change or attempt to be a better man.
