Cam Neely “Disappointed” in David Pastrnak and Ondrej Kase

Boston Bruins President Cam Neely spoke to the media Wednesday. He wasaddressing the absence of superstar right wing David Pastrnak, and fellow countrymen Ondrej Kase.

Both players have been “unfit to participate” in the B’s training camp since July 16th. By the looks of it, it’s going to stay that way. The team heads to their bubble city on July 26th.

Neely’s Quote

Neely was asked if there was any “Organizational disappointment” or “second guessing” the two Czech’s, to which he replied:

“Of course. When we had the day that camp was starting and we knew that some players were going to have to quarantine when they got here, you’d kind of hoped they would have gotten here (Boston) a little earlier. But we really didn’t have any say in that. That was really left up to the players. Obviously with what has played out and transpired, you would have hoped that some different decisions were made, but in the long run I don’t know if it’s going to affect us once we get into Toronto. I think we’ll be fine.”

When asked when the pair would be able to rejoin the team and skate, Neely’s best guess was in Toronto, once the team gets to the bubble city- which means, they won’t be joining the team until AT LEAST July 26th. This only gives them a handful of days to get in game shape for the August 2nd round robin game against the Flyers.

You definitely would expect them to take the extra precautions to arrive back in Boston. Consider this, they’ll have plenty of time to quarantine and be ready for the opening of camp.

Will the lack of training camp time impact the most important scorer the Bruins have?

Will Kase not being able to gel with his new teammates, who he only played six games with, impact his ability to perform this postseason run?

Final Thought

Only time will tell. But it seems almost certain there will be a bit of a warming up period for them. Hopefully they can acclimate themselves nicely and contribute to a championship run.
