The NHL’s Trade Deadline is quickly approaching and the Boston Bruins are still looking to add to their team. As players are being dealt left and right the Bruins options are getting thinner and thinner, they already missed out on adding Tyler Toffoli who was dealt to the Canucks on Monday. Now with him off the board they should turn their attention to the another RW in California, Ondrej Kase.

Ondrej Kase is a strong option on RW and could fill in for the Bruins on the second line. He’s been on the Ducks second line for most of the season, although he’s injured right now he’s set to return Friday. Kase has played just under 200 games in the NHL but has mustered 96 points, 43 of those are goals. So far this year Kase has 7 goals and 16 assists in his 43 games played. The Ducks are basement dwellers in the league and are looking to rebuild their team for the future so Kase is an expendable piece. Kase has this year and next year on his contract with a team friendly deal and will have a cap hit of 2.6 million.

So what will it take? The Duck’s don’t have to move Kase as he’s not set for free agency and will only move him if the deal is right. In order to rebuild the Ducks will be looking for younger prospects and picks. The Bruins have all of their draft picks except their fourth rounder. Prospect the Bruins could move would include Oskar Steen and possibly Jakob Lauko.

Just five days before the NHL Trade Deadline and the Bruins are certain they will make a move. Their defense has been bolstered with the recent promotion of Jeremy Lauzon so it looks like they will only be going after forwards for now. The Bruins are on top of the league but finding that one player to get over the hump can be done at the deadline.
